JB Grippers » Who is John Brookfield?
Who is John Brookfield?

John Brookfield is a living legend in the world of grip strength. John has set many records in grip strength from bending steel with his bare hands to tearing decks of cards in half. He has appeared on many TV shows such as the Today Show, and he has been featured in 'Ripleys Believe it or Not' and the 'Guinness Book of Records' for his feats of incredible hand strength.

The name John Brookfield is synonymous with Grip Strength!

It is a little known fact that in 1995 John Brookfield was the first man to close a gripper which took 365 lbs. of pressure! This is recorded in the foreward of John's book Mastery of Hand Strength. It was witnessed by Steve Jeck co-author of Stones of Strength.  Other feats of grip strength:
  • John tore 100 full packs of poker cards in half in 2 minutes 15 seconds. In his DVD Best of John Brookfield see him tear in half three decks of cards stacked together
  • World Record Holder for bending 520 60-penny nails in 1 hour 42 minutes.
  • World Record Holder for bending a 20 foot half-inch dia (12mm) steel bar to fit into a small suitcase in 29 seconds.
  • Jon Bruney & John Brookfield set a new World Record in 2005 for pulling a +20,000 lb. truck for one mile in 1 hour 13 mins.

John has achieved these feats of endurance without any specific preparation or training. At 47 years-old, many of John's weekly workouts are as difficult or often more difficult than these:

  • 1200 kettlebell snatches in one hour with a 24kg kettlebell
  • 302 kettlebell snatches with a 24kg kettlebell in the ten minute snatch test
  • 198 kettlebell snatches with a 32kg kettlebell in ten minutes
  • Striking a 23kg hammer into a tyre for one hour nonstop (striking pace was 27 to 30 times per minute)
John credits much of his success to his Battling Ropes System. This system enables the user to sustain power and strength of longer durations because it trains and forces the body and mind to use pure velocity. See John's DVD Introduction to the Battling Ropes System.
